Last night I attended a really cool art showcase put on by Raw Artists New York City. The event was at the Melrose Ballroom in Astoria Queens and over 30 artists were showcased. The works presented ranged from art, fashion, music, film, makeup, hair, performance, photography, and accessories. It was an incredible show.
I went last night to support my good friend and amazing artist, Derek Perez (Social Zombie). I knew his showcase was going to be great, but I did not expect everyone here to be just as amazing. I was deeply inspired by the talent in this space.
Everything was perfect: The artists, the people, the drinks, & the performances. I really must say, I was incredibly impressed by the show that was put together by Raw. My friend Derek had mentioned to me about showcasing my own work, and after seeing last nights show, I most definitely will be participating next time.
I met a lot of cool people, including this photographer, Shakaà, who focuses primarily on iPhone photography. She was telling me that her inspiration came from knowing that not everyone has the money to afford a pricey DSLR camera, and wanting to show the beautiful works that can be made with a simple mobile device. I connected with this on a personal level because I focus a lot of my independent work on helping people that have low resources follow their dreams.
It was an amazing expo. I thought the hashtag was very fitting, #besomebody, as this event was giving the opportunity to all artists of different genres to come together and showcase their work to a diverse audience. I look forward to participating more hands on in the next event.

Thanks again Derek for having us, cheers brother!
